Kloud51 talks Solid. Solid as Solid-State Drive, SSD!
Kloud51 currently provides Linux VPS with OpenVZ as its virtualization technology.
Well, we were providing these precious virtual machines on HDD, well we don't say anything against it, but to be honest with high speed internet connections and having 30-64 virtual machines on each Node will make the IO on disk around ~40MB/S and sometimes 50MB/S and it would make the whole Node pretty much slow for a period of time. Believe us, it's really annoying. You don't want to be a witness of something like that, it's a bad scene and we don't wish you to see it.
After reviewing customer requests and analyzing logs and countless hours of monitoring the machine performance we have decided to move from HDD to SSD.
We already have ironed out and designed a nice machine for our new OpenVZ SSD Containers and they've been working amazing.
At the our new SSD Virtual machines are responding blazing fast to our awesome beta testers.
Starting from 20th Jan 2016 we'll be move current HDD VPS containers to SSD ones.
The price of the service will be kept same and no extra charge will occur and Customer invoice will be same as before.
There will be no manual intervention on Customer end as well.
When it will be Done
The migration of whole stack might take 1-3 months due to having a large number of running nodes and VMs.
We'll keep you updated with the latest information regarding to this matter.
If you have any suggestions, concern or questions, please don't hesitate to bring it up.
